Cool Runnings

maintains a steady flow of Tropical and R&B inspired slow burners. Personally, I always find myself gravitating to these tracks, especially early in the night. Luckily for us, they are shared gratis over on his SoundCloud. My forever favorite is “Cool Runnings” which was put up a few years ago. It is aptly categorized as “VACATION”, and incites just that. Have a listen/download below, step out of the Polar Vortex, and Stay tropical, my friends™.

A long overdue full length album from Tensnake is set to come out this March. It will be a bit of a wait, but I’m glad he has released a free teaser on his SoundCloud. The track is deeper than what I typically expect from him, but it’s a perfect slow burner for either the beginning of your set or for later in the night when people will move no matter what. Take a listen below and fall in love.

Downtown is Dead w/ Asher Diamonds

August 28, 2013 by

I’m very excited to be having Asher Diamonds, a good friend, fantastic DJ, on point producer, and all around huge inspiration, out for Downtown is Dead this Saturday at Genna’s. This party has been a monthly staple at Genna’s for about 2 years and I know Radish and I are excited that we are able to keep things grooving.

Join us upstairs at GENNA’S for a special edition of DOWNTOWN IS DEAD with a good friend and special guest from Milwaukee: ASHER DIAMONDS! As usual there will be fresh tunes, cold drinks, and lots of groovin’. Expect to hear HOUSE, DISCO, BASS, & PARTY JAMS. See y’all on the floor!

Now We Here

Drake has been bringing the heat since he put out ‘Take Care‘, in my opinion at least. I couldn’t switch that album off for months straight. Sure, he’s a bit sad, but, damn, at least he is real and cheeky to boot. I can not say the same for most popular Hip-Hop stars and lyricists anyway. This brings me to his latest, ‘Started From the Bottom’. It’s definitely not sad, and I love the fact that he has the balls to flaunt where he is a bit, but still not make it feel completely over the top and cocky. The video is an homage to the lyrics as well. It is no ‘Marvin’s Room‘, but you can’t have it all. OVO XO.

Cleaning out my library slowly but surely and this time I stumbled across something very deep. The track I have in my library is called ‘Who is Deep’ by Evren Ulusoy, but I’m going to share something from his SoundCloud. The vocals are fantastic. Wow. Enjoy!

We’re back tonight & starting things fresh for the new year. We are hoping to bring more house into the picture with just a sprinkling of pop and bangers instead of the other way around. Recently, I have been combing through my library, updating genre info, deleting songs, and cleaning up titles. It has been a pretty painstaking process, but I have been trying to do one letter a day. Incidentally, I have been coming across quite a few gems, and here is one that I found in the letter D.

Disclosure has been receiving a lot of praise for the past year (if not longer), and I absolutely love “What’s in Your Head”, but I seem to have missed this one. It is fantastic:

Wisco Disco at the Majestic Theatre in Madison, Wisconsin is coming up this Saturday, the 5th. I am extremely excited for it because I am hoping that it will garner a large response. I am starting to see a trend in parties and I feel as though they are starting to swing back towards featuring house and DJs who love to play it and know the genre inside and out. It just makes you move. Here is the info for the party:

Right There

December 18, 2012 by

I mean, you cannot get more amazing than this album cover. I think this tops the one from Cerrone last week. If you haven’t guessed already, that’s Shalamar. I first remember hearing the track I am writing about in Kid Color‘s ‘From The Wizard’s Lips To My Ears Mix’ for Gotta Dance Dirty. It was near the end of his mix and it just completely struck me. Have a listen to both his mix and Shalamar’s ‘Right in the Socket’ below:
